Know before you Mow

Lawn Mower Maintenance & Prep
Spring is here and soon you will hear the sounds of mowers throughout the neighborhood. But, before you run out and fire up the mower and take off for your first cut, here are a few tips of preseason and weekly maintenance we perform on all of our mowers.
- Inspect all belts for any signs of wear.
- Make sure mowing deck top and bottom is clean of any debris and grass build up.
- Check to make sure all tires are properly inflated and at the same psi to ensure level frame.
- Check the level and pitch of all decks to ensure level cut of the lawn.
- SHARPEN THE BLADES!!! Blades on mowers should be kept razor sharp and be sharpened every 8-10 hrs of mowing. We use a commercial blade sharpener that is angled and serves no other purpose but to SHARPEN BLADES.
We wash our machines at the end of every week with no exceptions.
Before you mow your lawn make sure to remove any sticks and debris. Rake or blow out any matted down leaves to make sure mower can pull them up and mulch them out.
Mowing height
For the majority of our area we have tall fescue in our lawns and should be maintained and cut at 3-3.5” with the higher the better. Higher mowed lawns help the grass to out compete weeds and help the lawn with heat stress when we reach our hotter weeks of the summer.
